ÿ The banking was started by Nepal Bank Limited (Government sector) in 1937.
2. Joint venture (JV) Banks and e-banking:
ÿ Nepal Arab Bank Ltd.(now Nabil Bank) was established in 1984 which is Joint Venture Bank.
ÿ Credit cards was introduced by Nabil Bank in early 1990.
ÿ Himalayan Bank Ltd, the another JV Bank introduced the system of ATM(Automated Teller Machine) in 1995.
ÿ Tele-banking(Telephone banking) was also introduced firstly by the Himalayan Bank Limited.
3. Private Sector Banks and e-Banking Evolution:
ÿ In 2001, Kumari Bank Limted was established.
ÿ Kumar Bank Limited was first bank which introduced Internet banking in 2002.
ÿ Sms banking(or mobile banking) was firstly introduced by Laxmi Bank Limited. In 2004.
